In response to increasing client demand for market advising and risk management support, Farmers Options & Hedging Services has expanded its successful core services beyond grain marketing. As the business launches and brands itself in more diverse markets, they have changed their name from Farmers Options & Hedging Services, Inc. to Market 1 Inc. – Futures Forecasting and Risk Management.
Market 1 Inc. will be increasing its list of services to include livestock hedging, the development and implementation of ingredient purchasing programs, application of forecasting tools, market education and client representation with lenders. “As the agriculture industry continues to evolve, risk management remains essential for continued success. Given this belief, we continue to grow and evolve as a company and have utilized our knowledge and experience in the many different areas of the industry to create unique methods of assisting our clients recognize and manage their risk.” said Nathan Kier, President of Market 1 Inc.
To accommodate the increased market base, the business has added an office located at 2617 Northridge Parkway, Suite 101, Ames, Iowa 50010. The new office houses industry experts internationally recognized for their experience in livestock, ingredient purchasing, grain merchandising, and facilitating relationships among producers, vendors, lenders, and researchers. Market 1 Inc. also has branch offices located in Harlan, IA and Council Bluffs, IA specializing in grain marketing plans.
Market 1 Inc. is owned by DFS, Inc., headquartered in Newell, Iowa, a privately-owned provider of high-quality nutrients and knowledge to the pork and turkey industries. DFS has earned a national reputation for its exacting quality standards, aggressive innovation and unwavering commitment to exceed its client’s expectations. Today, the company’s 70 plus employees annually produce and deliver more than 600,000 tons of custom-formulated feed for integrated and independent swine and turkey producers throughout northwest Iowa, eastern Nebraska, southeastern South Dakota and southwestern Minnesota.
